AI Support – When Things Break, Who Actually Picks Up the Phone?
AI is great—until it isn't. The real test of any platform isn't how it performs in a sales demo, it's what happens at 3 a.m. when something goes sideways. Do you get a fix, or do you get ghosted?
Microsoft
Microsoft has actual humans on the other end of the phone. Their enterprise support is legit—24/7, financially-backed SLAs, escalation paths that don't loop you into oblivion. If AI is mission-critical (and it is), Microsoft is who you want on the other end when it hits the fan.
Google support is… okay. You'll get documentation, forums, maybe a chatbot if you're lucky. If you're a huge customer, you'll get a rep. If you're not, prepare for tiered delays and generic responses. It's decent, but not built for high-stakes enterprise support.
Salesforce
Salesforce is polished, but their AI support isn't separate—it's folded into their broader service org. If your AI feature flakes out, you're going to wait in the same queue as someone who can't export contacts. For AI-specific incidents, that's a problem.
Open-Source
Good luck. You're on GitHub. Your "support" is a stack overflow thread from 2018 and a community Slack channel that hasn't been active in a week. When it breaks, it's your problem.
Startups
Startups might offer Slack-based support, but that's usually just the founder answering in between pitch calls. If they're small, they'll try to help—but don't count on an SLA or enterprise-style urgency. If they're scaling fast, expect growing pains.
The Digital Labor Factory Angle
We use Microsoft because when something breaks, we know who's going to fix it—and fast. And so do our clients. We don't gamble on "maybe." We deploy Microsoft AI with confidence because we know the cavalry's coming if we need it.
